Death in the Tarot A poem

Death, the title is enough to inspire chills

Doom and gloom, the card itself can give you the ills

Does death signify, death, illness and pain?

But look closely the promise of death is not that

It is the acceptance of things to come

The dying of the old to give voice to the new

Struggle with it and death chokes you

Takes the breath out and makes you scream

But listen to it and death teaches you it’s secrets

Put your ear towards it and hear

It’s about acceptance, embracing what is

And not what can be

Death’s grip is tight but promise gentle

Out with the old and in with the new is death’s call

And how can we mere mortals fight that

So don’t,

just whisper

Come teach me death, set me ablaze with your song

And set me free to roam, freely new pastures of my own
